Some Random Thoughts

04/29/26 Biotech lost the most slots (-5). This action reflects the fact that Biotech (based on the IBB, below) has stalled at the top of its range and is now at multi-week lows. The XBI has now pulled back below previous breakout levels (i.e., a false breakout). Although there are pockets of strength here, unless they improve drastically, they’ll likely lose more and more slots. Energies overall continue to lose slots (-3). Semiconductors, overall, remain strong. They gained the most slots (8) for a total of 29. Despite recent weakness, Aerospace & Defense held steady with 5 slots. Obviously, this will change unless we see some improvement here soon.

There is a constant “window dressing” with the list. When stocks lose momentum or underperform, they are replaced.

Closed “Trades”

Some of the big winners (e.g., CAR +74%, ERAS 201%) were significantly higher before they got torpedoed (e.g., ERAS was up over 600%). This action shows that momentum often ends badly. No money management is being used. If real money were being used, it would probably be a good idea to exit half of the positions once they double.

Again, ride your winners and cut your losses short is the mantra. Notice that the big winners have been in the portfolio the longest, some for over a year
